The Genie Awards are like the Oscars but for Canadian films. The awards are given out by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. The Tracey Fragments received six nominations this year, including Best Director (Bruce MacDonald), Best Actress (Ellen Page), and Best Editing (Gareth Scales and Jeremiah Munce). Two clips from the film were selected for the awards ceremonies’ trailer, one of which was the internal title sequence we designed for the film.
Fido was also nominated for three awards, but most of the work we did on that film got cut. Thanks Lionsgate.
A photo of the elusive Bienvenido Cruz was used to accompany a short story by Sam Kerr in this year’s Holiday issue of Ion Magazine. Shot by Sanaz Afshar, this photo is not unlike the footage of the equally elusive Sasquatch captured by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin. One can also contemplate the irony of the story’s title (The Outside Man) and Mr. Cruz’s love/hate relationship with the “Art World.”

We’ve shot Fake Shark - Real Zombie! live before, but last Friday was different. This time we had three video cameras to capture a live show that not many live through.
Someone told us that the video we directed for Circlesquare’s Fight Sounds Pt. 1 is now screening at Vice Magazine’s online video site, VBS.tv. We have no idea how it got there.
