Zoo

Zoo openned at the grace-gallery in Vancouver on October 23, 2008.
It was an exhibit of a series of 13 Cintra-mounted digital Lightjet prints.

With tongue in cheek, I present a collection of black and white prints. Created from found photographs of animals, the creatures have been consciously altered, possessing human faces that gaze directly at the viewer.

If Zoo brings to mind the following ideas, then you have been graced (sic) with some knowledge of critical theory, making you part of the dying culture of the intellectual. That said, if nothing that follows these words makes sense to you, just enjoy the funny pictures.

The Great Escape

I guess it might be a diary of sorts. A very selective diary written in a kind of visual shorthand that you may or may not have to be fucked up to decipher.

The Great Escape is a collection of photographs documenting distractions, shenannigans, and hijinx from the last two years. The Tracey Fragments at the Genies

The Genie Awards are like the Oscars but for Canadian films. The awards are given out by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. The Tracey Fragments received six nominations this year, including Best Director (Bruce MacDonald), Best Actress (Ellen Page), and Best Editing (Gareth Scales and Jeremiah Munce). Two clips from the film were selected for the awards ceremonies’ trailer, one of which was the internal title sequence we designed for the film.

Fido was also nominated for three awards, but most of the work we did on that film got cut. Thanks Lionsgate.

A photo of the elusive Bienvenido Cruz was used to accompany a short story by Sam Kerr in this year’s Holiday issue of Ion Magazine. Shot by Sanaz Afshar, this photo is not unlike the footage of the equally elusive Sasquatch captured by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin. One can also contemplate the irony of the story’s title (The Outside Man) and Mr. Cruz’s love/hate relationship with the “Art World.”
